Chris Bryant visited low income communities in Antímano parish, Caracas (07/10/2009)
Vice Minister for the Americas Chris Bryant paid a visit to the low income communities of “Los Jabillos” and “Vuelta El Fraile” from the Antímano parish in Caracas.
During the visit, the Vice Minister invited to see a local kindergarten where he had fun in interacting with the children and the caretakers there. He asked questions regarding the Venezuelan educational system and its financing by the State. Chris was also curious about the how the school was linked to other social programmes enacted in the area. [See photos in Flickr]
Later, Chris visited a nutrition centre for low income people in the area, where he conversed with the community members who manage this social service and he commended them for their effort and their enthusiasm in serving their community.
Before leaving, Chris visited the house of a neighbour from the area who invited him in and expressed she was very excited to have “such an important foreign guest” in her humble abode. The neighbours living there had a nice conversation with the Vice Minister and talked about their experiences and opinions regarding life in this popular sector.
The Vice Minister’s arrival arose plenty of curiosity for the inhabitants from that area, who showed up in drones to meet Chris and accompany him everywhere he went.
