Chris Bryant welcomed at the British Embassy in Caracas (07/10/2009)

The locally employed staff association and diplomatic authorities at the Embassy in Caracas organized a special programme of activities to welcome Foreign Office Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State Chris Bryant during his brief visit to Venezuela.

These activities included the following:

  • Launching of the 2009 Staff Engagement Survey

Under-Secretary Bryant briefly explained the importance of participating in the survey and the function that it plays for the FCO. As a symbolic gesture to indicate the launching of the survey at the regional level, Chris proceeded to activate a sound mechanism that let ewveryone know it was time to fill out the survey.

  • Diploma in recognition of services

Under-Secretary Bryant awarded Ms. Sandra Dick, Embassy translator, a certificate of recognition signed by the British Foreign Minister, David Miliband. The diploma was meant to commend Ms. Dick and thank her for her 36 years of loyal service to the Embassy.

  • Tour of the Embassy's different sections

Under-Secretary Bryant, accompanied by Diplomatic Head of Mission (DHM) Ned Holborn and Press Officer and Spokesman of the Local Staff Association Aurelio Castilla, toured the Embassy premises chatting pleasantly with the different teams from each section. During the tour, each section had the opportunity to explain the characteristics of their work and the challenges they sometimes encounter in completeing their assignments on a day-to-day basis.
